Project Details

Our relationship with Abbott labs began back in 1972, when it was Ross Laboratories. In 1972, Ross Laboratories opened their first plant in Altavista, Virginia. CL Lewis & Co, Inc. ( now Jamerson-Lewis Construction) built their original 11 million dollar facility which would help produce the largest batches of Similac in the country at the time. This was a large plant consisting of 250,000 SF of space for production and work areas for their micro-biologists and technicians to test the products. Located on 102 acres of land, this plant has continued to grow and thrive since it opened, 43 years ago!

We are now managing a small team that’s dedicated for new construction and renovations at Abbott for the past 2 years. Jamerson-Lewis is on-call for all construction needs for Abbott Labs, assisting with the Owner's safety and renovation needs as well. Safety has been an important aspect in this relationship and we have continued to receive more work with them because of our ability to exceed expectations and provide excellent services.
